Kitchen Loop collects surplus food from restaurants and sells it at 60 percent off through an app. It has served 1.2 lakh meals so far (company figure).

The new funds will pay for cold storage and a delivery fleet.

Founded 18 months ago by two former hotel managers, Kitchen Loop now works with 210 restaurants and 12 hostels. Its app lists surplus meals at about 40 percent of their menu price, and buyers collect them within a two-hour window.

The founders say the business broke even in nine cities last quarter. Investors cited a repeat-purchase rate of 63 percent (company figure, not audited).

This is a demo story: every name, place, organisation and figure in it is fictional.
